ensemble "voices only"

The name says everything. Voices Only is based in Saxony-Anhalt's capital Magdeburg. The quartet exists since 2002 and performed in its first 10 years as a quintet. The founding members all originated from the Boys Choir Magdeburg and strived to be much like their big idols: the famous Comedian Harmonists. And the group still remains true to this idea.
The group's repertoire spans from the "old masters" over music from the classic and romanticism, folk songs, sonorous pop music arrangements and Jazz music. Voices Only participated very successfully at choir competitions and performed numerous national and international concerts.
Since its new foundation in January 2014 the group sings in a new formation and beside that all members are also singing in the New Chamber Choir Magdeburg: Marcel Radtke (Tenor), Mathias Vetter (Baritone), Christian Hoffmann (Baritone) and Andreas Leonhardt (Bass). Since then many things happened: a new repertoire, a new home for the rehearsals and many new ideas influence the artistic work in many ways. The result is an easy listening music with a high artistic standard but first of all with the delight for music.

girls chamber choir Egeln

In 2006 ten female students of the Gymnasium Egeln decided to establish a girls chamber choir conducted by Sebastian Pfarre. The choral conductor himself has already sung in the childrens choir, the mixed choir of the Gymnasium Egeln and with the Young Voices.
The girls chamber choir is an enrichment to the other mixed school choirs.
Today the choir consists of ten girls from the age of 14 to 20 years who meet every monday evening for rehearsing. But now, not all of the singers are students of the Gymnasium Egeln, some of them go to other schools nearby.
The repertoire includes German folk songs, songs in the style of the old masters and modern pieces like pop songs.
Highlights of the girls chamber choirs history are the performances at the spring- and Christmas concerts with the other choirs of the Gymnasium Egeln.
They also successfully participated in the international choir festival Sine musica nulla vita in the last years. In 2012 the choir was rated good at the choir festival in Aschersleben.
They earned second place in the category of womens choirs at a competition in Spremberg in 2014 what can be seen as their biggest success so far.

Children’s Choir and Youth Choir Saalfelden (Austria)

The choir came into being in 1989, when a group of young and enthusiastic children started to meet once a week in order to dedicate themselves to the art of singing and playing music. The choir was founded by Petra Fürstauer, who is its director up to the present.
Initially, the choir focused upon rhythmical chants, organising and contributing to church services. Before long the repertoire of songs expanded and with it the number of public performances, soon prompting the choir to become an important part of the cultural life of Saalfelden. Every year the number of members increased, pointing out the success of the choir.
The current repertoire of songs predominantly consists of vivacious and funny Schlager, which have become the trademark of the Youth Choir. We either accompany our songs with instruments like guitar, keyboard or flutes, or we sing to self-made instrumental playbacks. The choir as well performs at weddings, baptisms or Christmas festivities.
Trying not to concentrate merely on regional performances, the choir takes part in several activities outside of Saalfelden, having already visited Munich and Salzburg, as well as Linz. The participation at the “Magic-Music-Days” in the Disneyland of Paris in March 2005 was undoubtedly one of the highlights for the children.
There is a strong change of choir members, however, due to the broad range of leisure time facilities available to children, making the choice very difficult. The number of members varies from 40 to 70 children. In 2009, there are 55 active singers (50 girls and 5 boys). All children (over the age of 6) and adolescents (no age-limitation) who are into singing can join the Children’s Choir and Youth Choir Saalfelden. There is a rehearsal for the children once a week.
The choir also dared to enter a recording studio, producing four CDs, one Maxi-CD with Schlager-singer Waterloo and a Christmas-CD. All members have put great effort into the production of those CDs. The choir is already looking forward to taking part in the choir festival in Egeln!

Ne Shdali, Murmansk

In the spring of 1993, the love of music encouraged school students from Murmansk to form a very special group. Two years later, the choir was named "Ne shdali" (which means "unexpected" in English) and became well known through participation in competitions and festivals, during which they were rewarded with awards and diplomas.
Since its foundation, the members of Ne shdali virtually did not change, aside from growing up and forever connecting their lives and professions with music.
Since 1996, Ne shdali participated in many international festivals in Norway, Sweden, Germany and Bulgaria. In 2000, they won the "Classical Music" category of the All-Russian "Student Spring Festival" (in N. Nowgorod, Russia) and were awarded the "Special Diploma" for their conservation of the classical heritage.
As sacral music is an important part of Ne shdali’s repertoire, the group has performed for over 10 years in the churches of the Murmansk and Montschegorsk dioceses. Since 2002, Ne shdali’s is the official choir of the Church of Seaman in Murmansk.
Currently, the group has 8 members and a repertoire of over 100 songs. The repertoire consists of traditional and modern music, jazz, spirituals, classical music, folksongs of varying countries, as well as Russian and foreign sacral music.
In the year 2000, they recorded the CD "Everything Passes By" and a sacral music CD in 2004. In 2007, their DVD "No Round Date" was published.

Choir of primary school Egeln (GER)

The primary school choir was founded in 1997. It consisted of 15 pupils of the third and fourth classes.
Doris Schmidt directed the choir. Since that time children can decide to become members of the choir at the beginning of the school year.
In this year (2008/2009) 22 girls of the second, third and fourth classes sing in the choir. There is a rehearsal once a week. For us the biggest pleasure is to sing our songs together.
The choir sings at school events, projects and for parents and grandparents. Highlights in our work were the participations in the choir festivals "Sine musica nulla vita" in 2003, 2005 and 2007.

Young Voices - Egelner Chamber Choir (GER)

„Young Voices“, the Egeln Chamber Choir, is a formerly young ensemble founded by graduates of the „Gymnasium Egeln“. After becoming mature in the meantime, the choir is celebrating its 20th anniversary this year. Since its establishment in 1997 a lot has happened. Initially - after having participated in the school choir for many years - several graduates tried to continue their membership in a choir and to pursue their mutual hobby once a week. Over the course of several years the song loving group and their conductor have grown into a well-coordinated team that likes to spend its time together - both in the private life and during the choral work and concerts. This bond allowed them to experience exciting and successful moments together. So far the „Young Voices“ performed approximately 400 times in more than 80 different places, 6 CDs were produced and several journeys all over the world were undertaken. Beside Germany and Austria the choir travelled to the Czech Republic, South Korea, Australia, Russia, the United States of America and the Philippines. The choir always has been eager to build a long lasting relationship with their partner choirs. The return visits to all of those different countries were always a great opportunity to carry some of their new friends’ songs home and to perform them for their favourite audience – back home in the „Egelner Mulde“.

is the oldest ensemble in the small town located close to river Bode. The cultural scene of the Egelner Mulde and it is Grundzentrum (basic centre) is lasting influenced by its performances. The choir was established in 1959. The art direction is performed by schoolteacher Eckart Zeidler, assisted actively by schoolteacher Andrea Rokus for a few years.
The choral community is enriched by several concerts within the Saxony-Anhalt-Days, the choral festival on Falkenstein Castle / Harz region and by journeys to the twin town Rüthen/Sauerland, to Greifswald, to Freyburg a. d. Unstrut, to Bremen/Worpswede and to Magdeburg and Hannover, capital of the Federal State of Saxony-Anhalt.
They got to be friends. The international choral festival Sine musica nulla vita in Egeln, the choral festivals of Magdeburg, Schönebeck and of the Askanien Sängerkreis are the highlights of the choirs performances.
The programme of the Gemischter Chor Egeln e.V. is characterized by diversification and plenty variety. The repertoire ranges from madrigal, chant, folk song, jokey song, solo song, medleys and opera choir to international and contemporary compositions. Numerous choralsets were composed, arranged and published by choirmaster Eckart Zeidler.
It is a pleasure to sing with other choirs in common. Friends of chant from north and south, east and west consider themselves as a big family.

Mixed Youth Choir of Egeln Grammar School

The school choir of the Dr.-Frank-Gymnasium has a long tradition. Directed by Bettina Eisenächer and Dr. Ralf Schubert the 52 members regularly show their musical talent at school concerts, school festivities and ceremonies.
Students from grade 7 up to grade 12 are rehearsing and advancing their musicianship once a week. Each year in spring a three-day stay at a choir camp in Arendsee is part of the choral work.
Since school year 2015/2016 the former school choir Egeln and the school choir of the Dr.-Frank-Gymnasium merged because the Gymnasium Egeln was closed.
The choir performs nationwide, so the musicians were already guests at the Mitteldeutsche Kammerphilharmonie and the Schülerakkordeonorchester (SAO) from the music school “Béla Bartók“ Staßfurt. The choir also contributed to various musicals like “König Keks“ by Peter Schindler (2009), “Luzi hat was gegen Weihnachten“ by Jörg Ehni und Uli Führe (2011), “Eine Weihnachtsgeschichte“ (2013) and “Elion“ (2015) by Tobias Wilke. “Elion“ even received the Youth Culture Price of Saxony-Anhalt.
